Pindari Trek Nov 08

The Pindari Valley leads up to a Glacier and open valley at 3600m.There are several villages in the valley, the largest being Khati at 2300m. The trek stars at the village of Song ,crosses the Dhakuri pass and enters the Pindari valley.Apart from it's scenic beauty the valley is a place of pilgrimage going back to the Indian Epic poem "The Mahabharata" when the Pandava brothers came here to do penance. The trek can be done in as little as 6 days but I spent 10 days, staying extra nights along the way, exploring the birdlife and enjoying the hospitality of the locals.

Sikkim and Singalila trek 2007

Pictues taken during Gearoid and Paul's trek along the Indian-Nepaleese border covering a ridge of the Singalila range. Walking northwards we had great views of not only Kangchjunga itself but also Everest, Makalu and Lhotse (ie 4 of the 5 highest mountains in the world!). There is also a smattering of pics from Sikkim where we among other things stayed several days in the village of the tiny ethnic group "Lepchas" at Kechoeperi.
