Cookie Monster. "You Displease Me".
BB King always was a bit of a basket boy.
Cannonball is stunned by the wonderful mushrooms we grew.
BB tired from helping us pack.
Cannon looking much more serene than he is....
The first day in the office for the boys. Still a bit shocked from their trip!
Emma found a shady spot by the dam pretty quickly.
What *did* PJ have in that bucket??
But she likes the fresh grass even more!
She wasn't always cooperating in the photoshoot.
Emma spotting another bit of juicy grass.
Em still loves a good scratch, provided she can keep on chewing.
First day in the chookpen. We got 1 egg!
This was the tastiest egg I've had in a long time.
Emma was a little jealous.
Fencing up, chooks out. Deuce Bigalow is doing a good job looking after the girls.
Everybody was happy outside.
We decided to have a little champagne after a long day's work.
The chook fence from the outside.
First time BB saw frost.
Our new girls in a frosty field.
Everybody likes a treat. Only Emma is on a diet so she couldn't have any.
Lucille and Chippie, and Emma with me.
Chippie's calf.
Chippie will also eat a camera.
Chippie and Lucille.
Emma loves a good brush under her chin...
... or along her back.
Our herd of cows.
Hattie's calf in the foreground.
Emma with Porter!
All exhausted and hungry after a big night.
Porter was tired too.
Emma was more interested in her food for a minute.
Porter is lovely and soft and such a beautiful boy.
Apparently they sit down for a few days, to build up their strength.
PJ giving Porter a tickle.
Emma is still eating, she must have had a long night with such a big calf.
All the ladies are curious in the background.
Porter sings out to the herd, and the herd sang back.
cleaning the udder, ready for milking.
Milking Emma with Ian restraining Emma's leg.
Milk in the bucket (which she nicely kicked apart once it was half full)
A view of the dam.
The cows by the dam.
She's back!!! With a surprise.
Snow White and the seven dwarfs....
She is instantly a good mum.
What can I say :)
Rufus - Alberta in the background. We are throwing the hay out a bit quicker these days.
Rufus with Muddy on the side. The picture is fuzzy because I was a bit nervous being in the same field.
Rufus and Bessie, throwing each other longing looks. Poor Ruby isn't getting a look in.
Ah.... The way to a man's heart is through his stomach!
Emma and Porter
Milking Emma in the morning. Our friend Gerard was staying with us for the weekend.
PJ in the field with the grrrls
Milking Emma. It's more comfortable than it looks.
My pride and joy - Emma. The most beautiful girl in our herd.
Emma in the milking stall we built for her. She's such a good quiet girl.
Gerard wanted to have a try. Of course Ems was just calm and quiet.
Gerard feeding hay to the grrrls.
Not everyone figured where the hay was yet.
Ma Rainey - our resident baby sitter. She loves calves (she's feeding one rejected one on top of her own) and they love her.
Young Porter.
Rufus, Ruby Tuesday, and our new addition, Billie Holiday.
Billie :) How cute is she!
Ruby wasn't too keen on the photo session. Rufus in the background.
Early morning. Ma Rainey on the left, Ems in the background.
Our girls underneath their favourite shade tree.
Emma shedding her winter coat. She's looking a lot lighter, and even is displaying a bit of the light rings around her eyes. Alberta in the background.
That's not a vegetable! Cannon checking out what I was taking photos of.
The great Cannonball Adderley. Obviously there is nothing like taking a nap in the sun.
My beautiful BB, venturing into the hay paddock. Sherwood Forest in the background.
Satchmo... Tired from his big trip.
Saturday morning - he slept a lot!
When awake, sitting still is not something he does. He loves to play though.
He is already starting to bond with us.
Did I already say he loves to play?
Satchmo in his basket. A bit fuzzy, as he doesn't always sit still.
Satchmo watching us hang a gate. Is that a Possessive Paw I see there?
Satchmo and PJ.
Satchmo loves watching everything.
Satch and me. He is happy to sit and watch while we're working on the fence!
Coming home from fencing the back paddock, little Satchmo was too tired to walk... Obviously this is not how we drive on the road!!
Another great photo opportunity as I opened the gate.
I swear he is growing by the day.
Satchmo early morning - having a good runaround.
His favourite spot for sleeping in the kitchen.
BB in his safe spot. Satch can't get him here (yet)!
I need some rest!
Chippie and her new calf.
Chippie's first calf 734 (left) trying to get in the bucket that Muddy has got his head stuck in to.
Chippie's had enough and is leading her new born to a quieter spot.
Chippie's first calf, 734, and Porter, PJ as well.
Me feeding my favourite girl.
When Emma's nose is in a bucket she's not interested in anything else!
In memoriam, our little 734, a week before she was killed by a snake.
Satch on chicken training.
Not always paying attention to his flock!
Sometimes a bit too curious.
And sometimes just interested in what they are eating. Note how Mary and Mary are not worried by him at all!
One nice Friday night, bubbles in the hill paddock. Of course Satchmo came with us.
Satchmo, at 16 weeks.
Satchmo and me.
We were looking out over the grrrls in the field. Chippie and her new girl drinking.
Satch found something interesting in the grass.
Satchmo alert.
My favourite pic of Satch. What a beautiful sky as well!
Sometimes Satch even looked at me!
Muckiavelli jumped in the dam. This is a dam with snakes. I got him just in time, before he went too deep. Lovely two-tone there.
Chris & Lisa visited with their dogs Oakley and Scully. Satch loved the attention. The older ladies weren't sure about this crazy pup, but they were very good with him. Chris is sitting on the couch.
Oakley in the background, Scully on the left and Satch, playing at being a grown-up.
Scully and Oakley sitting quietly, Satch of course trying to eat the cloth they're sitting on :D
Me and Satchmo relaxing.
We found this old dog bed in the shed. Satch loves it.
Cannon is finally feeling more at ease being in the same room as Satchmo and us.
Gorgeous kitty :D
Whoops Cannon moved.
BB often keeps me company when I'm working.
Satchmo, still growing.
Satchmo at 5.5 months. We took him to the Huon River, near Glendevie. He had a ball.
This was the first time he encountered salty water.
Satchmo with his favourite chewtoy.
Satch lolling about.
The favourite chewtoy.
What can I say... Parmesan cheese for the Italian boy?
He is going through an extreme chewing phase at the moment.
Satchmo is 5 months exactly on this photo. He is a bit more than 30kg now, and is likely to grow another 15-20kg. I look like the incredibly shrinking woman.
Can I play wiz teh KITTEH?? Can I? Can I?
Satchmo and BB. BB is the best cat, he isn't that scared of Satch and will tell him when he's had enough.
And then I told Satch off for being too enthusiastic :D
Satch chewing a bone in the field.
Our boy is still growing!
I love his stance and his face on this photo.
Satchmo likes to drag sticks around.
Here he is sitting in Sherwood Forest.
My boy is very energetic!
Iz u comming or NOT
Satchmo in his element, in the small dam.
Stagboy was standing under a branch that had fallen off.
View from the far side of the big dam.
Satch & I, with Satchmo casually leaning on me.
Satchmo loves his belly being tickled. Here he is with a big smile.
Satch and BB.
Thanks to BB's bravery I think these two will end up friends.
Satchmo in his element.
Satchmo waiting for PJ to come home. This is around 5.30pm when he doesn't want to go for a big walk, he just wants to make sure he doesn't miss PJ's Return.
Satchmo at 6 months and 3 weeks. He likes physical contact - he's one big furry loverboy.
Two of the bigger boys of our household (we don't let Rufus inside).
Satchmo encountering frost for the first time in his life.
He often sits with one ear up, he's cute :D He was watching the cows eat their first lot of hay.
Emma munching on hay.
I often see these little redbreasted birds, and finally I managed to take a photo of one!
A little redbreasted bird on the fence.
U iz not working today. Work bad for u. Lets walk.
Satch at 7 months and 1 day. Cheeky big boy.
Rufus... My god does he look dim! I'm sorry but the grrls look much brighter.
Ma Rainey and son. Ma Rainey always has a lovely hairdo - and a piece of hay hanging from her mouth.
I iz not sitting on de couch. Honest.
My Satchmo
I get a smile in exchange for a bellyrub.
Cannon having a meditative moment in the field.
The grrrrls on a particularly beautiful misty morning.
Satch checking out the earth around the new dam.
Here we are walking in Sherwood Forest.
Still walking in Sherwood Forest.
Satch looking cute.
Out of the forest, Satch is looking towards the cows in the field below.
Lucille and Alberta. It wasn't raining but these drops were falling into the dam. It looks more like a lake now that it's been cleaned.
It's calving season again.... Bessie's girl, the first of Rufus' children to be born. Sippie's girl was second, and looks identical.
One of the older girls.
Satch exactly 8 months and 1 day. He's got a bit of Porter bone in his mouth.
Boy love.... Cannon always needs a bit of extra lurve when he's been out over night.
These two boys....
Satch looking pensive.
Alberta's girl. Something special!!!
The first calf not black. I wonder what Emma's is going to look like - she's next.
Alberta's girl.
And Alberta's girl again.
And here is the proud mum herself, Alberta.
Blossom, Emma's girl.
Emma's little chocolate calf, Blossom.
Alberta's little girl.
Cannon wasn't going to leave the couch for ANYBODY - not even the big blonde bombshell.
Cookie and Cannon snuggled up on the couch.
Satchmo, very puzzled by the ice on the dam.
Still puzzled by ice on the dam :)
Satchmo still loves running in the snow.
Blossom - now renamed to Koko as we've decided to keep her. So now she can have a Blues singer's name!
Bessie's girl.
Satchmo 10 months and 1 week.
Satchmo 10m1w... I am still visible! Just call me Alice from now on.
BB and Satch.
Satchmo with a rather large stick.
What a sweetiepie!!!!
Ems and Koko being sweet in the field. Koko looks a lot like Emma, she has the same lanky legs and bony behind.
Satchmo and PJ having a 'man-to-man' moment.
Emma and Koko. She's growing!
Satchmo on his favourite little bump in the field, checking that no one will hassle me while I'm getting his breakfast milk.
Satch sitting on the couch after I cleaned the floor.
He thought cleaning the floor was a bit boring. I agree!
Satch keeping me company during the day. He loves snoring underneath the desk.
Satch and his playmate Connor.
Satchmo asleep at my feet when I'm working.
BB in his favourite spot. Satch is trying to blend in on the rug.
BB looking incredibly cute. Unfortunately the Satch just moved his head.
Cool Cat Conference at my desk, lunchtime.
Cool Cat Cannon spotted my bowl of cereal and didn't wait any longer as Cool Cat BB and Cool Cat Cookie were still discussing who would lick up the bits of milk.
One early morning PJ went out to find a little visitor. That explains our crop circles.
U play wiz me. NOW.
Basket BB.
BB and Mo.
Satchmo loved sitting with the new additions.
The new additions: Dame Cleo Laine and her two boys. I suppose we had better call them Rump (for Lamb Rump) and Chump (for Chump Chop).
Dame Cleo Laine.
Chump. Rump is the bigger one sans head on the right. Can you tell the underdog is my favourite?
Chump. This one is a bit poorly. All of them were rather underfed, we think Cleo didn't have enough for both. So we're feeding him up with Emma's milk, and after 1 day of Em's milk this little boy has already perked up a bit.
We still have Satch on the lead, but he loves watching the sheep.
Deuce II. We thought we needed some new blood for the girls. PJ wanted to name him something else so we now have a rooster called Conan.
We also got 2 little bantams, in the hope that they will sit a bit better than our current girls, who seem to be unable to count to 21. We were talking about the little leprechauns and so they ended up with the names Kate and Frankie, after PJ's Irish grandparents.
Cleo and the boys.
Kate and Frankie.
The girls checking out Conan.
Satch still watching the sheep. "Shall I eat them or guard them?"
Satch in his classic couch sitting pose.
Mo and PJ having fun.
Our grrrrls in the field.
Mo in the field, still with tail. He had so many knots in it that I had to cut them out, no brush was getting through -- leaving him with a rather less majestic tail for the moment.
Barry with Satchmo. Early morning is never a quiet event for us anymore!
Mo is very good with our friends.
I suppose I was sleeping on the couch that night, as far as Satchmo was concerned. I wonder if PJ noticed the difference? :P
Alberta's girl, the most beautiful calf this year.
Ma Rainey's girl and Chippie's girl.
Chippie's girl, born just over a week ago. Lucille had her calf 4 days ago, but she was hiding in the field. Only girls! We've been told to get rid of Rufus, as you lose about $60+ each time you have a female calf.
Satchmo was super naughty, wouldn't stop barking at the cows. I made him sit, but it was hard for him to sit still.
Chippie and her calf.
Koko, Emma's girl. The only one with little horns developing.
I had just taken Emmie out so she could have a good feed. When I sit down anywhere, Mo has to sit next to me, with his bum pressed against me.
In close-up: My Mo-mo and me. And no, I'm not missing a tooth it's the shadow of my hat :)
Satchmo and Jessie Ella. Jessie is 22 months old, and we have just taken her in.
Mo-mo and Jessie.
Mo, Jessie, and BB. Jessie has been very good meeting the cats.
In the morning, by the milking pen.
Jessie is becoming curious about Satch.
Two stunning animals. Three, if you count PJ LOL.
PJ and Jessie.
Jessie has yellow eyes, brown around her eyes, and a brown nose. Very different from Satch, who has black around his eyes, dark brown eyes, and a black nose.
Jessie and Mo.
PJ, Jessie and Mo.
Jessie in the kitchen.
Last night, Mo and Jellybelly sat in harmony -- this was after a bit of a scruff over who got to sit near the couch.
Disputed item: The Couch. Winner of this round: Jellybelly.
Mo is not sure what to make of this loss.
Jessie looking proud.
Two snoozy babes.
Jessie aka Ella aka Jellybelly.
Jelly is a fast learner. She sits, and now will also drop.
Jelly got the stick - Mo was not too happy.
Mo got the stick, and then Jelly tried to steal it from him. I think they are becoming friends and are having fun.
Jelly: "I iz not letting go." Mo:"I iz not letting go too."
Mo, PJ and Jelly.
So.... Jelly brought this toy, a little stuffed dog. And then Satchmo got hold of it.....
Bad Satchmo! If nothing else, he's done the same to his stuffed rabbit. And Jelly grabbed one of Mo's toys and is hoarding that now.
At the end of a long week doing my horrible job, there is nothing nicer than having a cuddle with my favourite boy and a glass of homemade Elderflower champagne.
Jelly loves Cannon, and he loves that she is not as rough with him as Mo is. Sometimes we still have to tie up Mo, until he calms down - so that everybody can have a quiet moment.
Jelly is starting to like living here (we hope).
Mo & Jelly playing. Mo uses his weight to an unfair advantage - he simply sits on her if things get too much.
Note the casual look out of the window... My boy is not stupid LOL.
Jelly (left) and Mo (right) having a little bit of fun. I love their flappy ears!!!
Jelly got the stick, Mo is in hot pursuit.
Jelly in hot pursuit.
I caught their attention - just long enough to take this beautiful pic! Mo in the foreground, Jelly behind.
So, I was trying to have a photo taken of me & Mo, but Jelly's nose got in the way.
I loves my Mo - and he loves me.
Me and Mo.
Jelly & Mo.
Mo loves PJ, PJ loves Mo.
Mo and Mini-Mo asleep after a big play outside (and a disembodied arm belonging to PJ).
